Road Trip Beauty Essentials: Blog Hop

Good afternoon my lovelies! It’s time for another fun-filled blog hop! March’s theme is “Road Trip Beauty Essentials;” where you pick only 5 beauty items that you would grab for a last minute road trip. You read correctly my dears, FIVE ITEMS ONLY! I only recently started getting into makeup and even I found this limit nearly impossible! But nevertheless, I accepted the challenge!

Luckily, the 5 items are in addition to the necessitates (toothpaste, cleanser, moisturizer, deodorant, shampoo, condition, body wash, etc.). My skincare regime alone takes up its own suitcase!

This was technically due two days ago (shame on me), but I had an interesting weekend, to say the least, and am finally getting around to posting my response. To make things interesting, my road trip destination will be Portland, OR. And to be perfectly honest, the main reason why I want to visit Portland is to check out Voodoo Doughnut!

How utterly delicious does that look?!

Granted I may gain about 400lbs indulging in their creative creations, but it would totally be worth it! And with my 5 must-have beauty items, I’ll be a stylin’ doughnut hungry fiend! Voodoo Doughnut is only a 3 hour drive away from where I live and could be done as a last minute weekend get away!

To help ensure that I am one gorgeous diva, I would elect to bring the following 5 must-have items:

Black Magic Mascara by Eyeko – This baby is a MUST HAVE for gorgeously defined, long, and curvaceous lashes!

m.Powerment Lipclick Luxe Lipstick by mark – I bought this lipstick as a duo in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It was introduced by mark (a company associated with Avon) and it came with the lipstick, which is in a shade called “m.Powerment Petal,” and a bedazzled compact mirror. Unfortunately, you can no longer buy this shade or set; at least I cannot find it. This lipstick is perfect for elevating your natural lip color, while simultaneously adding a pop of color. It goes on smooth and has a nice magnetic closure with the lid to ensure the cap doesn’t come off. It’s definitely my go-to lip color!

Great Lash Clear Mascara by Maybelline – This is a MUST HAVE and is actually my number one item. I cannot STAND having fussy and unruly brows. This puppy keeps my Amazonian brows under control and I would be utterly lost without it.

Peek-a-Bright Eyes by Benefit – This is an amazing eye illuminating kit that not only highlights and contours, but I use the warm chocolate contouring shadow to shape and define my brows. It includes: a buff base shadow, a warm chocolate contour shadow, a pearly pink highlight shadow (my favorite) and eye bright (a creamy brightener). The added benefit of this pallet is that it also includes two brushes, but one is double-ended; concealer brush, contour brush, and liner brush.

My brushes are not depicted in this picture because I was actually cleaning them (first time ever!)

Fine-One-One by Benefit – This is my FAVORITE blush ever! It’s actually a sheer brightening cheek and lip color, but it looks gosh-awful on my lips. The three different shades included are: pink champagne, sheer watermelon, and soft coral. You can make it extremely subtle, or build it up for a big pop of color!

Swatches!
From Left to Right
(Peek-a-Bright Eyes) Eye Bright, Buff Base, Warm Chocolate, Pearly Pink Highlighter, (Fine-One-One), (m.Powerment Petal Lipclick)

If you were limited to only 5 beauty items for a weekend getaway, which 5 items would you choose? What could you ABSOLTUELY not live without?

    1. Thank you Jen! This is the first post that I actually used my nice "faux" SLR camera. I've always used my phone camera before. I took about 700 pics of each product until I was happy, but am glad how they turned out. I KNOW! Those doughnuts look fabulous! I totally want to have a girl's weekend where we go have fun, doll up, and get a variety box of these delicious treats and just share! I'm partial to maple bars, but not sure how I'd like it with THAT much bacon on it. And the Oreo doughnut looks heavenly as well! This blog hope was fun to do and has me planning a future road trip for when the weather starts to warm up! :)

    1. LOL! I saw the doughnut shop featured on one of the many Food Network shows that I watch and the fact that it was so close, I just had to add it to the bucket list. If you think their logo is fascinating, check out their website! CA-RAZY! LOL! And thanks! The blush is definitely my favorite, just the perfect about of color without looking like a clown ;)

  3. I didn't read a single word after seeing the pic of those doughtnuts. I was too busy drooling to read anything else.... I'M KIDDING! :) But seriously, those doughnuts. You and I are totally going to take a mini vaca together and eat doughnuts. Right? Right? :) I think your beauty picks are perfect. Really versatile and neutral! And pretty! :)

    1. LOL! I'm totally down for a doughnut vacation! I actually think it'd be fun if a handful (or all) of the bloggers / followers on the FB community decided on a random vacation spot / cabin. We could do nothing but eat and play with makeup all day! I always wear neutral looking colors (but I'm working my way up to more fanci-ful shades). I figured I just wanted something to enhance my beauty for a quick road trip! :)

    1. LOL! Yes, doughnuts first! :) The Benefit Fine-One-One is something I would recommend to anyone. Goes on super easy, it's not at all dry or chalky, it's quite moisturizing :)

  5. I'm so jealous of those doughnuts! Seriously, those look amazing. When's the next flight out of here? hahaha

I have both the Benefit Fine One One and their Bright Eyes Palette and love them! The blush looks SO natural, though I have to reapply it sometime midday since it wears off by then.

    1. I would have to agree. The blush is awesome, but after work if I'm planning on going out, I always reapply. But I'd rather have something light and airy than too harsh. I've always been afraid of blush lol.

  6. OMG a bacon doughnut!! Yummm!! I'm into the whole sweet & bacon trend! Anyways, you are one of many people I have heard say they like Benefit's fine one one, but I don't know if it would work for me since I don't really like cream cheek products. The colors look so pretty though!

    1. I'm a total sucker for sweet and savory; my latest favorite chocolate is anything with sea salt in it... YUM! I've tried other cream cheek products and HATED them because they felt goopy and tacky. This is so much more different than the other cream cheek products that I have tried in the past. It's like a "cream" but feels like a soft powdery dew on your face. It blends in well and doesn't feel wet. If you are able to go into a Benefit Counter, see if they'll let you try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

    1. I don't think I could live in Portland.... although, depending on how good those doughnuts are... LOL :) I haven't tried a Benefit product that I didn't absolutely love. Granted, I have only tried a handful, but they've all exceeded my expectations! :) Thanks for the comment, doll!

    1. It was actually the first thing I bought and started using when I was getting back into makeup. It's a nice quickie for when you just want to spruce up your eyes! :) Thanks for the comment love, my dear!

  10. Yes! Come to Portland--the donuts are just as great as they look, I promise :)
I'm interested in trying that Fine-One-One blush from Benefit. So many uses in one product!

    1. YAY! I'm taking your word for it and totally planning a trip there! :) The Fine-One-One blush is phenomenal! And not only is it a multi-use tool, but there are 3 different colors in the product, so you can even decide what color you want to use! Or use all 3 like I do! LOL :) Thanks for the comment, hun!

  11. Those doughnuts look incredible! Totally worth the 3 hour drive (and calories)! I would have a difficult time not stuffing my face. I love your choices. Benefit Illuminating Bright Eyes looks fabulous - why have I never seen this before?

    1. I LOVE the Benefit Illuminating Bright Eyes pallet, it has everything you need for the perfect pop to your eyes, and I use it to even brighten up my other not so fancy pallets. And YES! Those doughnuts are on my bucket list lol! I'm going to have to definitely earn them calories, but cannot wait! LOL
