FIRST Mani Monday!

YAY! My first ever Mani Monday!

When it comes to applying nail polish, I’m still very much a newb. If I want a new set of color on my nails, I typically apply it on a Friday or Saturday night; allowing the excess / smudges enough time to vanish before I return to work on Monday.

Sadly, I was in a bit of a dark place Saturday night and decided to use a mood-fitting color. I’m struggling with a few things in life right now and am just trying to “keep calm and carry on”. Perhaps I’ll touch on this more in a future post… onto the mani!

For this week’s manicure, I decided to feature a dark purple; almost plum color as the base and regardless of my mood, I can never say no to sparkles. As a top coat, I used a glitter polish that has several different sized glitter flakes and appear slightly green / turquoise after application. Then finally, I used a recent purchase from Sally Beauty Supply (future mini-haul post in the works) to speed up the drying time of my polish.

Base Polish: “Midnight Plum” by Avon (Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel)

Top Polish: “Kristal” by Nubar

Top Coat: “RapiDry Quick Drying Top Coat” by O.P.I.

What do ya’ll think about this color combination?

    1. Thanks, Michelle! I wish my nail pics were as good as the polish pics. I used my phone for the nails because my camera wasn't working right lol; oh well! There's always next week! Thanks for the comment and I like being able to hop off of you and the other girls ideas (Mani Monday, etc.) Hopefully that's okay! :)

  2. Looks really pretty. Sorry about the sad mood. I usually do Nail files on Friday, but I should do a Mani Monday. Not sure if my followers would get sick of all the nailpolish posts though.

    1. Thanks for the comment love Kimberly! Nail Files is your unique thing and I love it! I just jumped on the "Mani Monday" trend and since I normally do my manicures on Friday or Saturday night, I thought that would be perfect! :) I know that I wouldn't get sick of polish posts! I can never get enough polish! <3

  3. So pretty! I love the iridescent glitter on top of the dark polish. It's absolutely beautiful. I hope we see more Mani Monday posts. Maybe you can photo them in advance and post on Monday?

    1. Thank you Karen! That's my plan. I'm actually trying to get more active at posting. I had a mini pow-wow session this weekend and composed a post for Mon-Wed; all are already "published," just waiting for their scheduled launch date. I'm going to work on taking better pictures of my nails with my actual nice camera. I used my SLR camera for the nail polishes, which looks great, and my phone for my nails (not so great lol). Thanks for the comment!

  4. I really like that color combo. I've never used Nubar or Avon polishes--I will check them out!

    1. Thanks, hun! I like Avon polishes because they're affordable and offer a great variety of colors / styles, but they're not my favorite; of course, I love the more expensive crap lol! OH! And I received this fun Nubar polish in a previous Beauty Box 5 box and LOVE it! It's definitely a different formula than I'm used to; much thicker than normal, but it's supposedly way better for your nails; no formaldehyde and other garbage that's found in other polishes. I totally recommend checking out Nubar!

  5. It looks beautiful! I think those opal holographic top coats looks stunning over dark colors! You are great at polishing for a "newb" ;) Hope your spirits get better, if you ever want to talk/vent, shoot me a DM!

    1. Thanks, Kristina! :) I always like to try and brighten up darker colors, unless it's fall or winter (which, even though it's technically winter still, I've got my eye on spring!). And THANK YOU for saying my polishing skills aren't that bad. Like I said in my post, I attribute the semi-flawless looking polish to washing my hands 100x and getting rid of the excess that was all over my fingers lol! I really appreciate the offer to talk/vent, and will definitely keep that in mind. Belonging to the Beauty / Blogging community on FB has actually really helped and creating / reading blog posts have helped me rediscover a passion for journalism :) Love ya!
